1. What are hair extensions?
Hair extensions are any hair enhancement piece that extends hair length, increases thickness and texture, and blends with the color and texture of your existing hair. Hair extensions can be applied for permanent or temporary wear.

2. What application options are offered to clients interested in hair extensions?
Permanent hair extensions may be applied with a damage-free technique that includes braiding and sewing. This technique is available at the Angie the Dream Weaver Salon. Other technicians often use glue, bonding agents or tape that can severely damage hair. Temporary hair extensions are applied with clips, falls, ponytail additions, or wing combs for daily removal or change.

3. What type of hair does Angie the Dream Weaver use?
I use only 100 percent human European and Italian hair. This source provides the finest texture and is the closest match for clients. The extension blends seamlessly and looks totally natural when extended from your base hair.

4. Is it safe to use a product that claims to be 100 percent human hair but does not disclose the source?
Most companies that use human hair will not tell you their source. That is because they use only Asian hair, which is rough, straight and very dark. It is commonly used in wigs and as doll hair. Angie the Dream Weaver uses only 100 percent human European and Italian hair. This product is a perfect match for Caucasian hair.

5. How long does European hair last in comparison to products made from other types of hair (i.e. synthetic, Asian)?
European and Italian hair extensions lasts between 1-2 years depending on how often the client wears the hair, and if it is permanently applied. Asian hair will last only 3-4 weeks once the clear seal washes off, which takes approximately five washes. After that point, the Asian hair is stiff looking and rough in texture. For guaranteed quality and longevity, European and Italian hair is the best investment.

6. Can you tell hair extensions have been applied?
Not at all. However, it is important that the texture and color blend of the hair extensions matches that of the natural hair base. Stars that you see in the news daily wear hair extensions; Faith Hill, Britney Spears and Julia Roberts just to name a few. The extensions are so well matched they are undetectable. Used for over 63 years, hair extensions are created to truly enhance a look, if they are matched and applied well.

7. Are hair extensions expensive?
Cost is a relative term for hair extensions because it depends on a variety of variables; including color, length, formula, thickness, body and curl. Hair extensions also need to be tailored specifically for each client, and cut to blend naturally into the client's current hairstyle. Angie the Dream Weaver uses only the best quality hair and a time-tested damage-free application process. All of these elements lead to a price that is specific to each client. Angie always offers free consultations to educate the client and provide additional information about a price that suits their needs and budget. Click here for general rates.

8. Is it possible for hair extensions to fall out?
No, not if they are applied at my salon. My naturally chemical-free damage-free technique keeps hair extensions in place until removed. My salon WILL NOT use chemicals or tape to apply hair extensions. These substances tend to break down and become soft, causing hair extensions to fall out at will.

9. How long does your work last?
Re-traxing, the process of removing the extension to rebraid it, is a maintenance requirement for hair extensions. This is done for most clients every 10-12 weeks. Hair grows approximately ¼ to ½ inch monthly, so that means within 3 months hair can grow up to 1 ½ inch in length. This is the best time to come in to re-trax the hair close to the scalp. However, there is flexibility in re-braiding. Remember...damage-free application!

10. How long will it take to apply hair extensions?
Hair extensions take 1½ hours on the average to apply. It can take up to 4 hours for a full head of hair extension traxs.

11. What are trax?
Trax are very small flat braids placed strategically into your current style along the scalp to provide a place to sew on the actual hair extension. Clients with delicate or fine hair benefit from a fiber integrated into the braiding to help carry the weight of long extensions.

12. Is the hair extension application process painful?
At first the extensions may feel tight against the scalp, because they are braided into the existing hair. After a few days they loosen up and seem just like part of your real hair.

13. How do I maintain my hair color between re-traxing?
Simply continue to color as usual around the extensions. The Angie the Dream Weaver salon or any other hair salon can perform this service.

14. Can you color or perm the extensions once a client has worn them?
Yes, but proceed with caution. Hair that has been disinfected for public use no longer maintains the same cuticle composition, and makes coloring a challenge. An exact color match or curl can be hard to achieve. I recommend bringing the extension to the Angie the Dream Weaver salon. We can offer options on how to successfully apply a color change or a steam perm to create the curl.

15. Do hair extension colors look as natural as your own hair color as it naturally changes from season to season?
Yes! Every hair extension track is made up of 4 different shades. This allows your hair to lighten or darken as usual, but also always matches with a color shade present in the extension. It is also important to note that everyone's hair is naturally made up of more than one shade, so this system ensures a match to your base hair during each and every season.

16. Is there any limit to how many colors I can have, or a particular technique I use for my coloring?
Absolutely not. Each of my hair extensions is hand tied to include limitless colors and options. Techniques vary depending on the type of base hair, but will be matched in terms of color, knot for knot.

17. Does your application process cause any damage, during or after use, to my existing hair?
Never. Angie the Dream Weaver's time-tested braiding and sewing technique is damage free, and has been used by celebrity stylists in Hollywood for over 50 years. I do not believe in chemical, tape, plugs, etc., because they harden in the hair and lead to breakage. These harmful agents also break down the proteins in hair, or simply pull the hair out under stressful circumstances (sleeping, brushing, styling). I believe in protecting the integrity of the hair first, and refuse to use any of these harmful agents in my application process.

18. How long does the average woman wear extensions? For the short-term or a lifetime?
It truly depends on the needs and desires of the client. Thin or fine hair is hard to manage and offers limited styling options. These women usually end up wearing them permanently. Other women simply cannot grow out their own hair, and they long for the femininity it conveys. Women with these hair frustrations will wear hair extensions anywhere from six months to forever.

19. Can you get any hairstyle you want with hair extensions?
It depends on the length of the top hair. If the top is thin and hard to work with, then I would suggest a thinning hair integration for fullness. Hair extensions cannot be applied to the top of the head or on the bang portion of the scalp as there is no coverage for the *wefts. An integration would be recommended for the top and bang portion of the scalp.

In addition, if the top of the hair is short, layers need to blend the top length down to the length chosen from extensions. So, all one length is not an option unless your top hair is very long.

20. How often do I wash and style my integration after wearing it daily?
A hair care regimen for your integration depends on how often you wear it. Once a week on the average is a good time-frame in order to maintain the style and integrity of the integration. I can recommend professional shampoos and conditioners to help clients sustain the quality of their thinning hair integration.

21. How long can I expect my thinning hair integration to last before I would need to replace it?
On the average an integration lasts up to 3 years, depending on abuse factors, type of styling, how often it is worn, washed and styled. It also depends on the quality of the products used to maintain the integration.

22. Is it true I can choose colors other than my own when ordering my thinning hair integration?
Absolutely! So color formulation is up to you. Solid color to multi-tone appear natural looking because all of it is blended together with your color. I recommend adding any variety of colors to most styles for texture and softness around the face and crown. Hair is naturally more than one color, so most clients add additional colors for fashion or to blend with every season, looking natural.

23. Do you need to have a lot of base hair in order to anchor add-ons?
No. Most hair extras are custom-made to match your personal hair thickness or lack of hair thickness. With new types of clips, combs, ponytail pulls etc., anything is possible to help a client create a short-term change in their appearance.

24. What is the difference between your add-ons and those sold in other establishments?
Add-ons sold in other stores are synthetic, and unable to withstand heat or any style changes. Angie the Dream Weaver add-ons are made from only 100 percent human European and Italian hair offering a natural texture and fullness. Unlike synthetic hair, my add-ons can be styled, washed, or curled without any damage to the piece…and they last forever. Synthetic add-ons last approximately 20-30 applications.

*Wefts are the portion of the hair extension hair used for attachment. They are sewn onto trax along the scalp.

Real People...

What I didn't know, and couldn't have even imagined, was how beautiful I would soon look and feel. I walked into her studio almost three years ago -- practically bald -- and walked out with a full head of naturally curly, REAL HUMAN hair that would continure to look that good every single minute of every single day for months to come...Just like magic!
